Christie is a Managing Director of Attorney Placement at JSA where she oversees attorney placement and career coaching. Christie is dedicated to building strong relationships with the attorneys she works with to ensure that each is on the right career path. 

Christie has been a leading figure in the legal recruiting industry since 2006. She led the Recruiting Department at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP for over a decade, most recently as the Director of Recruitment. Prior to her time at Willkie, Christie oversaw both hiring and law firm management at Goodwin Procter’s New York and Boston offices. Christie also practiced as a corporate attorney at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP (Boston), Testa Hurwitz LLP (Boston) and Kaye Scholer LLP (New York). 

Christie utilizes her nationwide recruiting and training experience to help candidates identify the best position, and then, succeed in that position. Christie partners with her clients to develop a holistic understanding of their professional goals, unique talents, and workplace concerns, and then thoughtfully aligns each lawyer with the optimal professional opportunity. She also advises companies on how to attract and keep the best legal talent.

Having made career moves as both an attorney and a recruiting professional, Christie has real, first-hand experience of what is needed to be successful, and her clients often praise her hard work and unique, comprehensive approach for improving their career trajectories. 

Christie earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in economics from Stony Brook University. When Christie isn’t busy recruiting, she is usually spending time with her husband and children and searching for the best cup of coffee or glass of wine, depending on the time of the day.

Jennifer Soberman is a Managing Director of Associate Placement for J. Smith Associates. Jennifer works to effectively interface with law firms and other organizations to create winning professional relationships.

Jennifer prioritizes the candidates needs and makes the process about them, and never about her. That way of recruiting has allowed the attorneys she works with to trust in their partnership, to have in-depth conversations about their career options, and to make career decisions with all the information disclosed. Her candidates trust her and notice the difference because Jennifer makes sure each candidate gets the attention their career deserves.

Prior to entering the field of legal search consulting, Jennifer spent almost a decade working in legal recruiting at prominent law firms in New York where she was responsible for the placement of both lateral and entry-level associates. She also worked in talent acquisition in the financial services industry. Jennifer’s professional experience makes her a valued asset to both candidates and the firms she recruits for. She understands her candidates’ skillset and what her firms are looking for so she is able to effectively act as a legal matchmaker.

Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, where she majored in Marketing and Management. Jennifer lives in Westchester with her husband and two sons.

Robert Graham Gibbons is the Managing Director of Partner and Group Placement and Strategic Growth of J. Smith Associates.

Rob has worked at and for many of the best law firms for more than twenty-five years. He has focused on partner and group legal search consulting for the last several years, placing highly experienced and skilled partners, counsel and key members of their teams into leading law firms. Rob is not only a “go-to” recruiter for many of the world’s most successful and discerning law firms, he is also a trusted advisor to them on important issues such as strategic growth, practice expansion, succession and optimization, and the maintenance of bench strength across a spectrum of some of the most competitive and profitable areas of the practice of law.

Prior to entering the field of legal search consultancy, Rob was a distinguished litigation attorney, specializing in high-stakes intellectual property and related business disputes.  As  partner himself for ten years (including at an “AM LAW 25” law firm and at one of the oldest intellectual property boutiques), Rob successfully counseled, represented and litigated on behalf of some of the world’s leading intellectual property-driven companies in the branded pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer products fields. 

Rob received his law degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar; he received his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from New York University, where his was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received the Founder’s Day Award for outstanding academic achievement.

Uniquely deploying his private legal practice training, his own experience as a law firm partner and his legal search consulting experience for the mutual benefit of the accomplished attorneys and distinguished law firms with whom he now works in the field of legal search consulting, Rob has and continues to achieve outstanding professional outcomes through his representations.

Matt Dorf is the President and Chief Executive Officer of JSA. He partners with all the search consultants to make sure JSA candidates receive the optimal results.

Matt has more than 25 years of experience in the legal field. Matt is on the forefront of helping many of the most accomplished attorneys find the best possible position. He gives each attorney the attention his or her career deserves. Matt’s law firm clients value his exceptional ability to identify and recruit the most qualified talent and, as a result, he has built a network with top decision-makers at law firms across the U.S. And having placed several senior lawyers at companies and funds, Matt has exclusive access to some of the best in-house positions in legal departments nationwide.

Before becoming a legal search consultant, Matt worked in-house for seven years at an investment banking firm, where he advised on regulatory and legal compliance, human resources and employment law issues. Additionally, Matt worked directly with the general counsel and CFO on firmwide hiring initiatives.

Matt is an alumnus of Lehigh University and New York Law School. Matt lives on Long Island with his family and can regularly be found spending time with his boys, whether it be at home or cheering courtside at basketball games.
